NYCDDC Comprehensive Environmental Services
LiRo has been providing environmental services to the New York City Department of Design & Construction (DDC) for well over a decade through several continuing contracts. Project assignments have included investigation, design, construction management and inspection ranging from routine assignments to some of the most complex assignments required by the City.
Our petroleum storage tank design and construction specialists have been responsible for services related to the investigation, design and construction as well as remediation of over 700 underground storage tank facilities. Tank systems include gasoline and diesel motor fuel, heating oil, waste oil, motor oil, and hydraulic oil USTs and ASTs for almost every City agency including firehouses, police precincts, hospitals, parks, DOS garages, DEP and DOT sites.
Over 100 additional sites throughout the City have required remedial investigation, design, construction, and system operation and monitoring. These sites involved floating product, groundwater and soil contamination.
LiRo is currently providing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase II investigations, lead/asbestos surveys and comprehensive environmental consulting services to the DDC Bureau of Environmental and Geotechnical Services (BEGS). Under this term contract, over 250 work order assignments involving asbestos/ lead surveys, ESAs, site investigations and remedial designs for a diverse range of sites throughout the City of New York have been completed.
The ESAs required under the DDC program were completed in accordance with the American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) Standard E1527-05. The Phase II and corridor investigation work was performed according to ASTM and DDC guidelines for evaluating potential areas of environmental concern or recognized environmental conditions (RECs). LiRo was responsible for the development of work plans and reports for over 60 roadway corridors and Phase II investigations assigned under the program.
The site investigations included the collection and analysis of soil and groundwater for contaminant evaluation and waste characterization. Soil samples were typically collected from soil borings for a variety of parameters including: Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), Semi- Volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs), Metals, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs), and TCLP Waste Characterization. LiRo also provided lead based paint and HAZMAT surveys/sampling to support building renovation projects.
