Niagara Falls Municipal Complex
LiRo provided program and construction management services for this 135,000 sf design/build project. The new Niagara Falls Municipal Complex is a state-of-the-art facility that houses the Niagara District offices and base of operations for the New York State Courts as well as the headquarters for the City of Niagara Falls Police Department and its prisoner holding center.
The three-story east side of the complex provides facilities for the court that includes modern court rooms, judges' chambers, jury selection and jury rooms, district attorney offices, offices for defense council, administrative offices, and employee facilities. The two-story police wing contains the city's E-911 emergency operations center with modern communication and surveillance equipment, a modern tactical shooting range and crime lab, administrative offices, and secure interview/investigation rooms.
The LEED Certified project was built on a brownfield site, requiring extensive demolition of existing structures with remediation of asbestos and the excavation, cleanup, and disposal of 25,000-tons of contaminated soil.
