Winthrop-University Hospital Pharmacy Renovation
LiRo provided engineering services for the complete renovation of the Winthrop-University Hospital pharmacy located within the main campus of the hospital. The complexity of this project stemmed from the need to renovate the space while maintaining full operations in the other sections of the hospital. LiRo met this challenge head on by utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) to coordinate proposed renovations with existing conditions and establish efficient phasing for construction. LiRo's analysis of the BIM facility model reduced change orders and increased the efficiency of the construction process. Through the use of swing spaces and the expansion of the pharmacy into an adjacent office space, the project team successfully met the needs of the facility with minimal impact on daily operations of the hospital. LiRo designed a reliable and powerful HVAC system to meet the critical environment requirements of the facility and brought the hospital's electrical system up to code via the installation of a generator with automatic transfer switches.
