Overview

Over the past 12 years, LiRo-Hill has completed and is working on multiple projects for NYU Winthrop Hospital. LiRo-Hill provides mechanical, electrical, low voltage, plumbing, medical gas, fire alarm, and fire sprinkler engineering design services for both on-campus and outpatient facilities within the NYU Winthrop network.

About the Project

LiRo-Hill designed multiple healthcare spaces in strict compliance with FGI guidelines and careful coordination with existing building utilities and MEP systems. Representative projects include:

• Ambulatory Surgery Center in Garden City with six operating rooms
• Level 1 Trauma Center addition to the main hospital
• USP797/800 compliant pharmacy renovation
• Cyberknife Suite design in Manhattan
• Design of 8 X-Ray equipment replacement projects
• New outpatient dental clinic

Project Challenges & Solutions

A challenge encountered designing projects at Winthrop University Hospital is maintaining continuous operation of patient care spaces throughout the duration of construction. Day-to-day operation of the hospital must continue throughout the design and construction process, and LiRo-Hill ensures a smooth renovation via phasing plans created by careful coordination with NYU Winthrop.

Outcome

LiRo-Hill’s design work at NYU Winthrop University Hospital enhances the quality and level of patient care provided. Each renovation, expansion, and addition increases the capabilities of the hospital and improves the patient experience.
