Overview

The Rochester Educational Opportunity Center (REOC) is the downtown Rochester campus for the State University of Brockport. Offering academic preparation and career training in the fields of health care, business technology, and occupational trades, REOC originally held programs at three separate locations within Rochester. Initiated by the State University Construction Fund, plans for a centralized site were developed, to enable services to be merged into one location. LiRo-Hill was the Construction Manager for the project.

About the Project

The project involved performing additions and renovations to an existing five-story, 125,000 sf building to create a new college facility. Extensive demolition and replacement of existing architectural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical work, as well as minor structural modifications, were required. Site work included parking area pavement, planter and paver installation, and landscaping. The renovations resulted in the creation of state-of-the-art classrooms, galleries, student and faculty lounges, laboratories, libraries, computer rooms, and offices/ administration areas. A 6,000 sf Culinary Arts facility, including space for both a restaurant and kitchen, was installed. And a 500-seat multipurpose area, equipped with updated presentation technology, provides an effective space for presentations, events, and public gatherings. The project achieved LEED Silver certification.
