Overview
LiRo-Hill designed a precedent-setting Student Services Center for Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) to facilitate student interaction with college administrative functions, enhance the quality of service provided, create administrative efficiencies, and create a new and positive experience for both students and staff.
About the Project
The one-stop concept is an evolving trend on college campuses resulting from technological change, increasing enrollment, changes in the attitude of students who have grown up in a world with immediate access to goods and services, and the diminishing administrative resources of institutions of higher learning. LiRo’s design leverages new technologies to provide a functional, flexible, and attractive Student Center that embodies the dynamism of the College’s vision.
Outcome
The Center provides a stimulating and comfortable environment for both students, who might spend extended periods of time researching and transacting their business, and staff who spend their working hours there. While serving the functions envisioned today, the Center has been designed to support the goals of the program tomorrow; incorporating sufficient flexibility to facilitate change as the College’s experience with the new delivery method evolves.
