LiRo’s Stuart Cohen Recipient of the 2021 NYS Assembly Veterans Wall of Honor

LiRo-Hill is proud to showcase that Stuart Cohen was the recipient of the 2021 NYS Assembly Veterans Wall of Honor. Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, 21st District, presented Stuart and seven additional veterans with this honor in a ceremony held on October 17th in Freeport, New York. The Hall of Honor Ceremony recognizes dedicated veterans of AD21 who have gone above and beyond for our country while continuing to be role models within in their community.

Stuart began serving our country in 1979 by enlisting in the US Coast Guard Reserve. After completing this enlistment, Stuart went on to join the US Navy Reserve and was assigned to Freeport USNR Center where his unit was involved with merchant convoys and anti-submarine warfare operations. In early 1984, after the embassy in Beirut was attacked, Stuart volunteered to serve on the USS Iowa. For his volunteerism, Stuart received acknowledgement of his patriotism from the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Reserve Affairs. In his third enlistment, Stuart returned to the Coast Guard. Finally in 1997, Stuart joined the US Coast Guard Auxiliary where he has held numerous posts and continues to hold many posts in the Auxiliary in addition to being part of Team Coast Guard.
