Overview

LiRo-Hill provided construction management (CM/Build) services for the upgrades to the existing theater facilities and museum, and site work to link the disparate cultural venues on the 77-acre Queens College campus. The main venues are the Goldstein Theater, Colden Auditorium and Amphitheater, LeFrak Concert Hall, and the Godwin-Ternbach Museum.

About the Project

Architectural modifications provide new and updated theater lighting and sound systems, new restrooms throughout the complex, and reconfiguration of lobbies and concessions. A new plaza connects the Goldstein Theater, Colden Auditorium, and LeFrak Concert Hall that provides seat walls, new paving and lighting, and new handicapped accessible paths to the complex. Project highlights feature new plaza connecting cultural venues; new theater lighting and audio upgrades; and extensive HVAC and fire protection upgrade.

Project Challenges & Solutions

Work was done on an active campus and required extensive phasing and “work arounds” to accommodate performance, practices, and academics.
