Overview

LiRo-Hill acted on behalf of the owner to provide design peer review and constructability pre-construction consultation for this proposed dormitory building for The New School in Manhattan. The existing building, located at 301 1st Avenue, is 145,000 sf with 24 floors. The project scope involved demolition and reconstruction of the interiors for dormitory use. LiRo-Hill’s goal was to ensure the New School’s decision-making process was as cost efficient, executable, and effortless as possible. LiRo-Hill reviewed documentation generated by the developer and designers and provided recommendations for effective solutions to meet all the project goals and requirements.

About the Project

LiRo-Hill performed design document peer, constructability and schedule reviews at the Design Development and Constructions Documents stages of the project, as well as reviewed shop drawings, RFIs and ASIs during the construction stage to improve the completeness, constructability and economy of the project. Finally, LiRo-Hill’s Estimators reviewed design estimates and provided a comparative cost estimate with an overall goal of improving the value and quality while maintaining or reducing the time to complete the project.

Outcome

Construction is expected to be complete in June 2020.
